Dr. Emanuela Ferretti

Dr. Emanuela Ferretti received her MD degree from the University of Milan (Italy) where she also graduated in pediatrics and neonatology. Her postgraduate medical training included a clinical and research fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto and the Montreal Children’s Hospital-McGill University.

Dr. Ferretti is an Associate Professor at the Children ‘s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and The Ottawa General Hospital-University of Ottawa. As a member of the CHEO Research Institute, her research interests include the development of the human intestine and the genetics underlying necrotizing enterocolitis. She has also taken part in the development of an innovative Neonatal Ethics Teaching Program focused on parent-physician communication skills for postgraduate trainees. An active member of the NICU Family-Centered Care Committee, she is leading an interdisciplinary working group dedicated to the Perinatal Palliative Care Program from the hospital to hospice or home.
